Okaki (small rice crackers) is a traditional Japanese snack.
In Asakusa, there is a store that serves halal certified okaki named Hyobando, which is located just behind Asakusa Kaminari-mon Gate.
Delicious okaki from Hyobando is prepared by cutting rice cakes made from glutinous rice flour harvested in Japan into bite-size pieces and then deep-frying them in vegetable oil, giving it a crispy texture. Soy sauce is blended to a sweetness to fit Muslim people’s taste, and is finished by sprinkling it with red peppers, dry seaweed, and wasabi. It is perfect as a souvenir from business trips. All items are 650 each. Wasabi is the most popular flavor.
