Utsunomiya University started offering HALAL-recommended menus from October 19th, 2015.
In June 2015, HALAL research (Their Facebook Page) suggested offering of HALAL-recommended foods at the Utsunomiya University co-op. The co-op and HALAL research determined on the 7 upon conditions including food management, cooking and serving methods, etc. through a conference, and made sure to come to a mutual understanding. HALAL research did a tasting of beef don (beef bowl) in June and prepared a pop label and poster in July in cooperation with the co-op. HALAL-recommended menus will be available from October 19th, 2015. The word “HALA- recommended menu” was used instead of HALAL foods or HALAL menu because it means that “it is not perfectly HALAL-friendly” and that “these menus are offered by co-op in response to the request by HALAL research.” There are two menus including beef don (beef on rice) and chicken tatsuta don (deep-fried chicken with sauce on rice), and addition of new menus are expected in the future. It is of great happiness to HALAL research for being able to provide menus for Muslim people in Utsunomiya University to enjoy without worry at the co-op cafeteria.
