Oyster restaurant in Tsukiji started Muslim-friendly
Have you heard about “GANGAN-YAKI”?
The owner of the oyster restaurant in Tsukiji called Oyster House introduced how you can fully enjoy eating an oyster.
Oyster House stands 7 mins walk away from Tsukiji/Tsukiji Shijo station, and there is no other oyster restaurant here in Tsukiji than Oyster House.
It serves a plenty of menus such as a raw oyster and kama-meshi with oyster (a traditional Japanese rice dish cooked in an iron pot called a kama)
Any meat is not used in foods provided here, and there are dishes that Muslim can eat as well.
Of all menus, its recommendation is GANGAN-YAKI of oyster.
GANGAN YAKI is the traditional way of cooking in which oysters, scallops, and hard clams are usually steamed with sake. However, for Muslim customers, boiled water will be served instead of sake.
GANGAN literally refers to a Tohoku dialect of Kan (a can in Japanese). In Tohoku area, fishermen still cook this way actually.
Steaming prevents shells of oyster from opening themselves, which makes broth called dashi in Japanese and extract remain inside shells.
In addition, its nutrition, which benefit on your health, will not be drained out by steaming. You can enjoy fresh seafood even though you do not like raw stuffs very much.
A can for muslims is also prepared.
Baked scallop with butter

Oyster House prepares some separate dishes like baked scallop with butter and veggies.
