Japan’s population is declining, Japanese government is taking steps to fill the void and maintain economic stability. Several programs are developed, such as student exchange and training program, and also investment opportunities among countries. Developing countries in Asia with high rate of population growth generally are Muslim majority countries, these countries have become target of the programs. This has led to the rapid growth of Islam in Japan.
Indonesia is one of Asian countries that has close relations with Japan since the World War II. The programs above greatly increasing the number of tourists from both countries. Halal market opportunity has become an appealing sector. Through city tourism offices, several cities in Indonesia will take this golden opportunity.
Friday, 20th April 2016, Little Bandung Festival was held on Friday, April 10 2016 at Lalaport Toyosu. Various featured products from Bandung were displayed, like clothings, handycrafts, arts, traditional toys and foods. For Muslims living around Tokyo, this was a fun event to spend the weekend with family.
Batik clothing for men and women were being displayed in the event. Long sleeved Batik clothes and pashminas that can be used as scarf and headscarf (hijab) are suitable for Muslim in japan. Visitors were pampered with special treats like West Java cultural arts performance while tasting typical Bandung snacks, such as Molen Bandung and Bolu Kartika Sari.
Furthermore, not only information about Bandung Tourism Map, free souvenirs like T-shirts and tote bags were provided by event organizer. In the next few years, there will be more city tourism offices in Indonesia who want to set up similar event in Japan.
