RAMEN TSUKEMEN HALAL OUKA SHINJUKU GYOEN

I have tried halal ramen that recently opened in Tokyo, the ramens I tried are tasty, but not satisfying enough to my taste. So I am still curious about ramen, could I find halal ramen that taste good and feel satisfaction like Japanese do after they had their ramen? And fortunately I found that there is other halal ramen that recently opened in Shinjuku, quite close to my house and I am so excited to try: Shinjukugyoen Ramen Ouka.

In this shop, you order the ramen through ticket vending machine. You insert the money, choose the ramen you want, and take the ticket to the counter. My friend chose the small bowl ramen set that costs 1050 yen, and I chose small Tsukemen set that costs 950 yen. Tsukemen is ramen that eaten by dipping the noodles to the ramen sauce. See? I could find tsukemen here! Because the soupy ramen is so mainstream 😛 I am so happy to find it and can not wait to try.

I was so nervous and a bit worry if the ramen would taste so-so. I did not expect too much as we know that ramen without pork will not taste the same. I have never tried ramen with pork of course, but I believe that one taste so good and it makes many people love ramen.

When the tsukemen comes, I was overwhelmed by the excitement to try the ramen. One serve consists of a plate of cold ramen, a bowl of warm dipping sauce, and a small plate of grilled chicken and boiled egg. Do you know what happened on my first try? “Mmm.. Mmm.. Oishi!” I really said that. The cooks who were watching me eating look so happy and said: “yokatta”. They were so relieved. The tsukemen tastes soooo good indeed. The dipping sauce soup tastes so rich and perfect. It is miso based sauce and you can taste the sesame and soy bean without feeling it “too salty”. It is really perfect. The grilled chicken became a good friend to be eaten together with the ramen. You can dip it to the sauce too if you like. When you are close to finish the meal, the waitress will serve you with a special black tea with ginger and yuzu flavor that is known as number one tea in Japan. I love this tea as it smells like aromatherapy and helps you relax.

The soup ramen (oops! I forgot the rice)

My friend who ordered the soupy ramen said the ramen was better than other halal ramen that she has tried before. I took a sip of the soup and I couldn’t agree more with her. This is the best I think. Her menu was consisted of a bowl of soupy ramen, a bowl of rice with raw bird egg, a plate of grilled chicken and boiled egg, and a small serving of purple sweet potato okashi (kind of sweets) with a touch of orange flavor as the dessert.

Their secret of the delicious ramen is that they use fish and tomato based soup. They also have vegan ramen for those who are vegetarian. Their shop is newly opened about 1 month ago. They still didn’t have the seats when we came so we had our ramen in standing style. But the seats are coming within next week (yeay!) and they are planning to provide prayer room too. For now if you plan to eat there and you need prayer room when it is time to pray, there is prayer room at Laox in Shinjuku Sanchome, 8 to 9 minutes walk from the shop and you can pray there.

What we had here and whatever you will have here, I believe they are totally worth the price. Come and try the ramen here, you will not regret and definitely want to come again.
