On August 29th 2015 (Sat), Japanese and Muslim people gather together for a workshop to give consideration to services and products to satisfy the needs of Muslim people was carried out in Osaka Innovation Hub.
Twenty five participants and seven Muslim advisors participated in the workshop.
In the first session, people spoke out on their ideas as an icebreaker and after, in the second session, thoughts were given on genuine business plan while receiving advice from facilitators on whether or not there a market is available, if there is competition with existing free services, etc.
The five ideas generated as a result were: establishing a prayer space and information center using empty spaces in shopping arcades, service providing Halal lunch boxes, website providing Halal food recipes by contribution from subscribers, share house for Muslim women using old Japanese style houses, and Muslim-friendly wedding service.
Mr. Zohar, director of Kobe Muslim Mosque, Mr. Shugo from HALAL MEDIA JAPAN, Ms. Doi, visiting researcher of Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International, andother Muslim people reviewed each idea, and service providing Halal lunch boxes won first prize, followed by Muslim-friendly wedding service at second place, and share house for Muslim women won the Social Business Award.
We received opinions from participants that they were glad to hear directly from Muslim people through the workshop. Perhaps we were able to achieve a bit of international culture exchange in participants that usually do not have a chance to communicate with Muslim people.
