Halal restaurants are like oasis for Muslims in a country like Japan where the environment is not yet motivated much to be Muslim friendly. In such situation, if a Muslim tourist find a halal restaurant just getting down from the Aeroplane, it becomes a great relieving factor for him. I also enjoyed the luxury to eat halal food in Haneda airport in Café and Dinner Pista.
This restaurant is located in the 2nd floor of the International Terminal in a calm and quiet environment. If anyone fails to find the restaurant, there are very well organized information desks to tell the location of this halal restaurant. I also took the help of a staff working in the information desk and they showed me the location providing me a map of the airport.
In front of the restaurant, the conventional “Halal” sign is missing which may fail to draw the attention of the tourists. I knew about the restaurant from the website of HMJ. But, it is written clearly in front of the restaurant that they serve pork free food and alcohol free drink. This may be enough to create confidence in the mind of any Muslim about the authenticity of their food to be Halal. I preferred to rely on them.
They had a long list of menu but most of them are available after 11 am. I was staring at the mouthwatering view of different photos of the foods in the board. The menu are Japanese sauce spaghetti with Mushroom, Spaghetti Napolitan, Pista original curry and Rice, Teriyaki Chicken rice bowl, Maple Syrup and fruit Pancake, Soft Ice Cream, Cheese Dog, Caesar salad etc. When I reached there, it was 0800 and I had very few options to choose.
I preferred to eat “Kakiyage Udon” and Orange Juice only. The taste was good for a Japanese tongue, but I am not sure how it would taste in a tongue used to take more spicy foods. As I am already familiar with Japanese foods, I enjoyed the meal. I hope people from every corner will enjoy the food with peace of mind and satiety of the tongue.
I could also use the free Wi-Fi service of the airport sitting within the restaurant and also got the advantage of charging my electronic devices like notebook and cellphones. These facilities were additional to the food I have enjoyed there. It seems that Café and Dinner Pista offers every Muslims entering into Japan or going out of Japan every assurances to enjoy the meal and have necessary communications with their friends, family members and colleagues.
