Halal Expo 2017 Report
Halal Expo Japan which had been held in Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center Taitokan 4F-5F on November 21-23rd 2017 was the forth Halal Expo organized by Food Diversity Inc (previous: Halal Media Japan Co. Ltd), the biggest expo for Halal businesses in Japan.
This year’s expo was the first time being held in three days in row with various of new and fresh contents that attracted local media.
There were 113 booths with 131 companies exhibited on Halal Expo Japan 2017, from food related companies to fashion related companies, got together to spread Halal business and promote Muslim-friendly Japan that attracted around 8,000 visitors in 3 days.
Visitors breakdown:
1st day (November 21th): 1,478 people
2nd day (November 22nd): 2,011 people
3rd day (November 23rd): 4,380 people
Halal Expo Japan that keep increasing its power and quality every year, not only attract Muslim visitors, companies and media, but also artist and ambassador. On Halal Expo Japan 2017 we were welcoming Malaysian Ambassador and also Malaysian artist, Ms. Mira Filzah.
Attractive Points
The most attractive points of expo this year:
Tokyo Modest Fashion Show and Generation M Design Award.
Tokyo Modest Fashion Show brought not only Muslim fashion collection from overseas designers but also Japanese designers. This show attracted medias and visitors’ eyes, with beautiful design and modesty of Muslim fashion that overwhelming audience. It was a great opportunity to see and feel the potentiality of Muslim fashion.
Furthermore, there was a competition (final round) for fashion design students from Indonesia and Malaysia, to present their design and compete on Generation M Design Award in Tokyo. The finalist presented their design with brand-new and creative idea in fashion world, from design that came up with soft and feminine look, four-cultures-mixed design, until earthy natural design dyed with natural colorant.
Participation of Aizome Hijab manufacturer, Ai no Yakata from Kyoto
Aizome hijab was gaining responses with its beautiful deep yet magical indigo blue color, even before exhibit on Halal Expo Japan 2017. On Ai no Yakata booth, all-blue hijabs and scarfs those are handmade-dyed one by one by the craftsman, were lining up. The beauty of indigo blue made visitors can’t help to stop their steps.
Participation of big player in food related sectors and industries in Japan
“Japan is becoming more muslim-friendly!”, a sentence that is becoming true! All is proved in Halal Expo Japan 2017, where industries from restaurant until processed foods that goes halal are increasing. Their eagerness to provide “delicious food that Muslim can have” was strongly felt on the site, where Muslim visitors can do food tasting. There we can heard abundance of visitors’ voices praising the delicacy of foods.
Collaboration of Muslim and Lolita fashion
A new perspective in fashion world was being started in Halal Expo Japan 2017 through event called Kawaii Hijabi Collection. Those who love Lolita fashion was getting excited in experience Lolita dress along with Lolita hijab which is specially designed and made for this event.
Business seminars
There were seminars held on the second and third day of Halal Expo 2017 that discussing about Halal market in Japan, Muslim needs, etc, to support Halal industries to expand their businesses. We got participants from abroad as well. One of our staff also gave presentation in seminar on last day of Halal Expo.
