Halal shop Nakhlistan in Kobe
What made us open the shop
In Kobe, there is Kobe Mosque, the first Mosque established in Japan, with many foreign citizens with various religious beliefs living together, such as Islam. Therefore, there were already several HALAL shops here. Most of these shops sold food ingredients in a small floor space, and were like old “tobacco shops” in Japan. Nakhlistan opened with a hope of wanting to create a place where Muslims, who have many constraints due to religious precepts, can eat food without any worries. There is a café space of about 10 seats where HALAL lunch is served.
Café space
Muslims gather here after finishing their services to exchange information.
You can also drink tea and eat products you purchased at the shop such as instant noodles, etc.

Close to the station and open until late at night
Conventional HALAL shops were all concentrated in Kitano area. Kitano area takes about 15 minutes by walk towards Yamate from Sannomiya station, and is a bit inconvenient. Therefore, Nakhlistan opened a store only 3 minutes by walk from the station from the wish of wanting to have a HALAL shop in Sannomiya, where many Muslims work. With consideration to the locality where many people gather, the shop is open until 10pm. There is a prayer space, which is a safe haven of Muslims needing a place to prayer.
Carefully designed store
Bright, expansive, and stylish atmosphere.
The Shop manager, Marina Kohashi is a former jewelry designer. She acquired knowledge about Islam learning because many stone importing countries were Islam countries, which motivated her to open the store. The store decorated by the former designer owner is bright, expansive, and has stylish atmosphere.

Turkish lamps and dishware decorated with detailed paintings are adding color to the store, and looks almost like a gallery.
They sell women’s scarves, general merchandise from Islam regions, etc. in addition to food items and spices in accordance with the religious precepts of Islam.
Message to Muslims
The concept of Nakhlistan is to “deliver fulfilling Muslim life in Japan.” Nakhlistan means oasis in Urdu (language in Pakistan). It was named from the wish of wanting Muslims living in Japan with different customs and traditions can feel relaxed when they come here.
The Shop manager herself is Muslim, and is a shop “of Muslim, by a Muslim, for Muslims.” Nakhlistan combines the heart of Japanese hospitality and the stylish sense of Kobe. All our staffs are very much looking forward to your visit.
*Although the shop is not HALAL-certified, the shop manager is Muslim (All food ingredients used are HALAL)
