Certificated restaurant “Indian restaurant RAJU” in Kyoto
Ancient capital, Kyoto is the most famous tourist attraction in Japan. Please visit “Indian restaurant RAJU” when you don’t know where to eat. Today, we interviewed Shake from RAJU.
Please tell us the reason you decided to start HALAL-friendly services
All our chefs and servers, including myself, are Muslim. So there was no real reason why we started HALAL. We acquired HALAL certificate from the Kyoto HALAL Committee to get objective investigation tracing back to small details on each ingredient, which is very helpful.
Characteristics of the store and devices made
Since we are a privately owned restaurant, we try to take in customer’s preferences as much as possible to offer them foods that satisfy them. For example, we learned that people from South India like sour taste, and for customers from Uygur district, a chef that has worked in China develop menus for dishes that are not too “Indian-style.” When we receive group reservations, we ask customers which district they are from, what kind of dishes they want to eat, and information on allergies if there are any. It is easier for us to image personal recipes for customers when we have these information, so please let us know in advance. India has a wide variety of people, but we believe that we can correspond to these differences.
There is no prayer space, but you can pray at the back parking lot when it is sunny and depending on how crowded the restaurant is, you may also pray inside. Only the bathroom has a hand wash station, so please use the bathroom for Wudu.
Regarding the taste, we won first prize at Fabex Sozai Bento Grand Prix 2 years in a row, selected from among more than 1000 bentos from all over Japan.
Message to Muslims
We would like our customers to enjoy food in Japan and communicate with the locals. Many Japanese as well as foreign customers visit our restaurant. How about asking them for information related to Kyoto? HALAL restaurants are recently increasing in Japan, so please enjoy your trip in Japan without worry.
We also correspond to vegetarian customers along with HALAL. We will try to correspond to your desires as much as possible if you have any. Please contact us by e-mail or phone for any inquiries.
