Ameyoko shopping street is located just across the main street from Okachimachi Station, here we can find affordable price and duty free shops with various products like snacks, fresh and dried seafood, herbs, clothes, shoes, bags, cosmetics, jewelries and others.
Ameyoko shopping center runs parallel to 3 meters tall railway line above the ground and Ameyoko is under the railway line.
People relate the name of Ameyoko from “Ame” of America, because a lot of American products were sold here after the World War II. For Japanese, Ameyoko is originally short for Ameya Yokocho which means Candy Shop Alley, as candies were traditionally sold here.
